Meet Hulk: The Biggest Pit Bull in the World

Last update: 10 April, 2018

At only 18 months old, he weighed 80 kilograms. Hulk has the Guinness World Record for being the biggest pit bull in the world, and he continues making news as he recently became a father. In this article, we are going to tell you his story.

Get to know Hulk, the largest pit bull

With a name like that, he couldn’t be any less than enormous. Although he isn’t green and he doesn’t get bigger when he gets mad. Hulk has a very appropriate name. In spite of his large size (just seeing his head is terrifying), his owners claim that he is a very affectionate pet. However, he doesn’t hesitate in providing security to the family with his loud and powerful barks.

Everyone who looks at Hulk is left in awe because he weighs more than a person and because the pit bull breed is believed to be bad or dangerous. However, the size of this dog does not prevent him from enjoying life with his family (he lives with a couple and a small child, his adventure companion).

In the last few weeks there has been new news about this XXL beauty… he’s a dad! Even though many dog lovers criticized Hulk’s owners for making a profit from him (they offered him up as a stud for 20 thousand dollars), others affirm that it’s not a bad idea to get some revenue from the animal for what it costs to maintain him.

According to Hulk’s official web page, each puppy is worth 50 thousand dollars if they go through a training school owned by one of the family members, Maron Grennan (otherwise they cost 27 thousand dollars). The goal is to make the puppies first-rate protection dogs.

According to Maron, owner of a breeding and training business for pit bulls called Dark Dynasty, it’s one of the most valuable litters they’ve had. However they still don’t know how big the dogs will be as adults and if any of them will follow in their father’s footsteps.

What are the largest dog breeds?

The story of Hulk is unprecedented for a pit bull. However, there are some breeds that always have huge dogs. Here we will give you a few examples:

1. Great Dane

The Great Dane is the largest dog breed that exists. The males can reach 80 centimeters tall and weigh more than 60 kilograms. Their body is firm and muscular. The biggest member of the Great Danes is Giant George. He weighs 111 kg and is 110 centimeters tall… and he’s afraid of water!

2. St. Bernard

Known for the movie Beethoven or for being a mountain rescuer, St. Bernards are one of the largest and most good-hearted dogs that exist. They can be 70 centimeters tall and weigh 90 kg. They eat and drool a lot. They need daily brushing for their great amount of hair, and they love children.

3. Neapolitan Mastiff

The oldest Neapolitan mastiffs were brought to Greece from India at the request of Alexander the Great in the year 300 B.C.  With a robust, heavy and well-built body, the Neapolitan mastiff is very affectionate, noble, and protective (but won’t attack without a reason). They are around 70 cm tall and weigh 60 kg. They can eat up to 1.5 kg of food a day.

4. Leonberger

These dogs are of German origin, and besides their size, they are known for their long, brownish-grey hair. This mountain dog is muscular and solid, but they are calm and friendly in regards to their temperament. Leonbergers weigh up to 75 kg and measure 80 cm tall. They do not like to be tied up or left alone.

5. Bullmastiff

Created after crossing an English bulldog and an English mastiff, this 100% British dog is very intelligent and watchful. The Bullmastiff weighs between 50 and 60 kg and measures around 65 cm. They are moderately active, loyal, and obedient, although they are not “dogs of a single master.”

Other enormous dogs include Tosa Inus, Newfoundlands, Czechoslovakian Wolfdogs, Fila Brasileiros, Dogues de Bordeaux, Tibetan mastiffs, and Komondors.
