When it’s time to go out with our canine friend, there are several different options and places we can visit. So we don’t always leave our most loyal companion at home, there are some restaurants that allow dogs and other pets.

Until very recently, only owners with guide dogs could go into restaurants. However, now there are many places that allow dogs

Where can you find restaurants that allow dogs?

There are different websites where it’s possible to search for restaurants that allow dogs by province. On these sites, you can find places for lunch or dinner with your friend.

Some important tips before leaving are: calling the restaurant or bar beforehand, walking around the streets, and checking if there is a sign that says that dogs are welcome.

Catalonia has the most restaurants that we can go to with our pet. For vacations, the number of hotels and establishments that allow pets keeps growing, and many have special pet facilities.

Restaurants for dogs

Recently, the first restaurant in Spain with an exclusive menu for dogs was created. It is located at the Camp Castell Mar de Castelló d’Empúries in Girona. At the restaurant, dogs and owners can share their space and there is exclusive menu full of delicious dishes for both.

A very special restaurant in Germany

If you have a cat or dog and visit Berlin with them, don’t hesitate to go to the first specialized restaurant in food for cats and dogs. At this establishment, special menus are designed every day for the healthy nutrition of our canines and felines. “Treats in Pets Deli” was inaugurated at Christmastime, and can be found in the exclusive district of Gruenewald. The prices are fairly reasonable, since they vary between three and six euros.

Here, animal owners can enjoy a coffee while their pets try a dish specially prepared for them. Also, you can get take-out food in a bag or plastic container.

The owner of this restaurant for pets is David Spanier. The 31-year-old that opened the establishment says that he had the idea of creating the special restaurant for dogs and cats after finding out that his friend’s dog couldn’t digest pet food from the supermarket.

In his own words, “Junk food is bad for animals. It’s the same as if I ate fast food everyday. Perhaps I like it, but it’s very bad for my health. The meat in my restaurant is of such quality that it could be consumed by human beings.”

This could catch on; dog and cat owners will be able to visit pet-only food establishments in the future. It’s a different way of spending time with our animal friends. They have fun, and so do we, for very little money.

What’s happening in the capital of Spain?

On the Madrid City Hall website, you can download the regulation that regulates the possession and protection of animals.

In Madrid, the law generally does not prohibit the entry of animals to bars. It all depends on what the owner of the establishment decides. However, even though entry is allowed, it is mandatory that the animals are kept on a leash or chain and also have a muzzle. Collaborating with the establishment’s instructions will make it easier for other places to allow pets.

In all cases, respect is advisable and beneficial for everyone that has a dog in the city. Therefore, it is mandatory to ask when entering an establishment if there is any problem with bring a pet in.

For example, it could be that someone there has an allergy or fear of dogs. In this case, the best thing to do is leave and look for another restaurant.

Another important issue is that pets are not really allowed at get-togethers in a restaurant. Many establishments in Madrid that allow dogs do not want to appear on the Internet among the places that allow pets. This is because they don’t want many people with pets to visit when large groups are attending as it could be a problem for the other clients.
