The Fattest Cat in the World Lives in a Hotel
You can find pretty much anything on social media and what’s there can travel far and quickly. You could, for example, earn the unfortunate nickname for being the most obese person in the world even if there were no proof. Sadly, this is kind of what happened to Logan, a cat who was declared the fattest cat in the world.
Logan: the “fattest cat in the world”
Logan has a serious obesity problem without a doubt. He also has some irresponsible owners who obviously haven’t done enough to stop their eight-year-old cat getting to a weight of 30 pounds. It’s difficult for him to even move.
The cat lives in a hotel in the amazing Waterville Valley in New Hampshire.
According to reports, Logan is like Garfield, the famous cartoon cat. Logan is greedy, and loves to eat, and eat, and eat. He eats from his own plate and then from other cats’ plates. He’ll even raid cupboards looking for more food.
So, here’s the question: if he behaves like this, why haven’t his owners done anything to try and stop him getting so fat?
Find out more about Logan’s story, an adorable but overweight cat who was declared the fattest cat in the world on social media.
How did Logan come to be named ‘the fattest cat in the world’?
Logan looks adorable and is really friendly with guests in the hotel. As a result, guests, as well as the hotel’s owners, upload photos and videos of Logan onto Facebook and other social networks.
As a result, the chubby cat started to get famous and, believe it or not, people started coming to stay in the hotel just to meet the fattest cat in the world.
Obviously, it’s always nice when a business is doing well. However, it seems like Logan’s owners aren’t taking the risks of Logan’s weight problem too seriously.
Obesity in domestic cats – a growing problem
Obesity in domestic cats is a worrying phenomenon which is on the rise. In years gone by, cats would spend a lot of time out of the house burning calories as they prowled around gardens and rooftops.
These days, they have less access to the outdoors. And although this reduces the risk of them getting sick or injured, it also means that they sleep a lot, eat the same, or perhaps even eat more. And, a result, they put on weight.
Obesity reduces life expectancy and their quality of life. It can also lead to conditions such as diabetes or the following medical problems:
- Joint problems
- Breathing problems
- Heart issues
- Liver problems
- Skin conditions
How to prevent your pet from becoming overweight
If you have a cat, you need to watch his weight. If you notice that he’s getting fat, then consult your vet or an animal nutritionist.
Apart from that, here are a few tips to help you prevent your pet from getting fat:
- Give him the right type of food and the amount needed for his age, size, and physical condition
- Try to encourage physical activity with games or toys
- Try to avoid giving him “people food” or too many sweets
If you want your cat to become famous on social media, let it be because he’s beautiful or lovely. Don’t let him become like Logan, ‘the fattest cat in the world’.
We hope that his owners take note and that it’s not too late for the little guy to lose a little weight and enjoy an improved quality of life.
