This luxurious and ostentatious cruise ship is the only one that crosses the Atlantic from New York. Furthermore, it’s done so since 1840. Although the company to which it belongs is already 175 years old, the Queen Mary 2 continues to maintain its high standards of beauty, luxury, and opulence.

It’s not in vain that celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor and the Dukes of Windsor are known for using this means of transport. In fact, the Queen Mary 2 is the most expensive cruise ship ever built. So, start saving your cents!

Now, in addition to such characteristics, this cruise ship has now also become the only one to cross the Atlantic and allow people to bring along their pets as guests.

Pets on the Queen Mary

Traveling with pets is not a novelty. Elizabeth Taylor often traveled with her pets, but, as new regulations started to appear, it became increasingly more difficult to do so. That is, until Cunard, the company with the most luxurious cruisers (including the Queen Mary), launched the first pet-friendly onboard service.

The price varies according to the weight of the pet, but normally a ticket will range from 500 to 700 dollars. Of course, this includes high-quality, gourmet food, and luxury facilities. A privilege that any Maharaja dog would envy.

In addition, when you arrive with your pet there won’t only be luxury shampoos and gifts for you on your bed. Your pet will also enjoy a welcome package and other little tokens for him or her to enjoy.

During the journey, which could last anywhere between 8 and 15 days, your dog will have toys, bowls, high-quality beds, and anything else they may need at their disposal. However, if you wish, you can also bring along their personal items from your home. But, of course, who would refuse such 5-star items!

Pet accommodations

Unfortunately, there is some bad news: your pet can’t stay with you in your cabin. There are special cages for them that are very clean and supervised 24 hours a day.

There are staff on board in charge of caring for the animals on the cruise. They attend to their needs for food, liquids, and even take them out for walks. This way, you don’t have to worry about such pesky details.

Furthermore, in order not to deprive you of the pleasure of the company of your pet, there are walking areas near their cages and they’re accessible at all times. In that way, you can pick them up and walk with them whenever you want.

The Queen Mary cruiser has thought of everything. They even have a veterinarian on board, equipped with all the instruments they may need. Furthermore, there are also lifesavers for dogs of all sizes.

Requirements for pets on the Queen Mary cruiser

It’s obvious that not all dogs could have access to this kind of luxury. And so, in order for your pet to come along, it must meet a number of requirements such as:

  • Having all of its necessary vaccinations
  • Microchip
  • Passport
  • Certificate of deworming no older than 5 days
  • A signed statement from a veterinarian in regard to the good health of the pet

So, if your pet complies with all of these, then (if you can afford it) you’ll be able to enjoy an unforgettable experience with him on the Queen Mary cruise liner.

We’re definitely happy that more and more companies like Cunard are adopting a pet-friendly philosophy. This gives us the opportunity to enjoy new experiences with those we’ve grown to love so much: our pets.
