Dogs have been our loyal companions since the dawn of time. Man’s best friend has been at his master’s side to help with everything, from daily chores, through to more unusual, and even occult activities. So, today, we want to take a quick look at the history of dogs and witchcraft. You’ll soon see that dogs have always done much more for us than simple domestic work.

Witches have always held very close connections with animals. In fact, the history of dogs and witchcraft is a rich and complex topic. To understand how the two became linked, it’s important to take a look at the historical events preceding this unusual partnership.

There have always been close ties between witchcraft and animals in general. Different species are connected with witchcraft in different ways. Animals are said to emit a special kind of energy, very different from that of a human. This energy has a variety of uses in witchcraft.

Dogs and witchcraft: a brief history

As we’ve already mentioned, there’s a special connection between animals and the occult. Dogs, in particular, have played a unique role in witchcraft over the centuries. To truly understand the link between dogs and the occult, we need to go back to the very origins of witchcraft, thousands of years ago.

Some figure

Firstly, it’s important to distinguish between two different types of magic: white magic and black magic. In white magic, dogs are usually partners or assistants.

White magic is only used for good or selfless actions, while black magic is used for evil or malicious purposes. Even so, witches do also (sadly) use dogs in black magic as well as white.

The link between dogs and witchcraft

But what is the connection between dogs and witchcraft? And what good can come of this unusual relationship?

Many people believe in the power of canine energy. Animals are well-known for their heightened sensitivity, and dogs, in particular, have a very special relationship with mankind. Since time immemorial, witches have used this connection for both energy and protection.

Witchcraft and the occult

In the world of the occult, dogs are believed to bring positive energy, which witches can harness and use for protection. According to occult teachings, dogs have the ability to keep negative energy at bay. It’s because of these beliefs that dogs have come to work hand-in-hand with witches.

Canine senses

The subject of dogs and witchcraft raises a number of other questions. Witches have always believed that dogs can perceive emotions and other extrasensory information that humans can’t. As such, witches often tried to use canine extrasensory perception to connect with higher powers. But, to do this, it’s important to understand the intricacies of the canine language.

In white magic, dogs often assist in spells without any risk to their own safety. However, this is not always the case with black magic, which often involves dangerous rituals and even animal sacrifice. By making such sacrifices, witches believed they could access their pure, divine energy, and use it to combat dark magic.

The use of dogs in black magic is not widely known. In fact, black magic is more commonly associated with cats, who are normally the animal of choice when it comes to performing dark rituals.

Types of dogs used in witchcraft

However, sorcerers couldn’t simply establish a connection with any type of dog. The animal had to belong to a particular kind of spiritual energy. This usually meant domestic dogs, or those that had established some kind of contact with the human world.

Some figure

Many people train their dogs to protect them against evil spirits.

The witch would train the animal to stop bad energy from entering their home. However, preparing dogs for this task required careful, in-depth spiritual training. Even today, there are still many people who believe in witchcraft.

As you can see, this is a rather unusual topic. But what it does show is that dogs have almost always played a key role in our lives, from the everyday, to the occult.
